Today, Werribee is one of Melbourne’s more contained city when compared to other suburbs. The city boasts a huge range of schools (both public and private), has a superb shopping complex (Werribee Plaza) compared to other nearby suburbs, provides various community facilities and shops. Werribee is a historical suburb and many will associate the town with the Werribee Mansion and the Open Range Zoo. In the 90′s however, many Melbournians thought of Werribee as a city of waste due to the sewage plant located in Werribee South. After upgrades, Melbourne Water’s Plant is no longer noticed by locals and visitors.
Werribee belongs to the city of Wydham and neighbours the towns of Hoppers Crossing, Tarneit, Wyndham Vale, Cocoroc, Werribee South and Point Cook. Real estate Werribee has become sought after over the last 10 years. Many families who build new homes in the area mainly do so in the Tarneit and Point Cook regions these days.
